FIRST ONE IM SINGING IN WAGHHHHHHHHHh

Quick Question

First of all. I loved the song. If I could play guitar like that, I wouldn't have to fake the funk on my tracks but I was mostly curious as to what you used for the drums. I use Reason 3.0 and I try very hard to make some realistic sounding drums. Please reply and share your tips. Also, could you check out two of my songs.."Chair Time" and "Formerly Known as Worthless" They have some of my best when it comes to drums. On a closing note. You have great talent. I hope to hear more from you soon.

Lakas responds:

yeah dude, i use reason 3.0 as well. i got a few free refills i found around the internets, and just mixed them up together until they sounded good. i mix with pro tools though; that's what makes the real difference. look for drummer boy, that's a great one. i'll be sure to check out your other tracks; you should send me a few more reviews. thanks, padre.

I liked it

This is one of those songs that you will always want more of. I loved where it was going, I was only disappointed by the length. But if that's all that anyone can complain about, then you're in good shape. Had this been one of my pieces, I would have built it up a whole lot more and then naturally would have dropped in with the hard rock vibe. But alas it was not mine. Many props man. If you get a chance, check out "Death, Doom, and Frustration" in my songs. You'll kind of see what I mean. Peace Man!

Skillz!!!

Dude you've got mad skills! I wish I could jam like that! I've only been at this for about 2.5 years and I've made lots of progress in composing and such but your performance reminds me that I have a long long way to go! Most impressive though! Good show!

ghetto-biba responds:

Thanks alot!

Not Bad!

Damn Man....Someone straight up gave you a 1! That wasn't me just to clear things up...I wouldn't give this a 5 but damn. I can hear some talent there. I like music in it's raw form. It captures a time and a mood. Keep it up.

Good one

I liked this song. As well as your other flash projects. What did you use? I use Reason mostly but have many different composition tools. Peace!

TapeNinja responds:

for this i used garage band but i droped that and i now use acid pro

Stirring!

I liked this one alot. It sounds like something I would have made, I guess that's why I can relate! Good song. Of course I'm usually pretty hesitant to use the techno rhythm. I'm a big fan of syncopation and heavy drums but I still have love for this piece. Good Show!

Make more like this

I think this is one of your better ones. it may be a short one but if you can sequence a whole peice with this mentality, you'll be setting yourself up to a higher standard which will always keep you growing. Good song.

Killah-J responds:

Yea imma try n redo it later when i get the time to iight. Thankz for tha support and the review.

In the right direction

I can tell that you're starting to grow with this piece. I respect this song because I know what you were trying to accomplish. I remember when I was trying to slug it out with some mediocre samplers and FL Slayer to try and grasp that raw edgy sound. It's really hard to get that without being able to hop on some live instruments and play it all out.
My only suggestion would be to keep at it and upgrade your synths and programs whenever you can. Also just when you've finished a piece of work I'd suggest doing a "save as" and using the same song create another file of the same one. that way you can keep the original piece in tact, and have a spare one that you can toy with and experiment with. I don't know how you do your work but I've found that some of the best songs were derivatives of my older stuff that I gave complete makeovers to. In summary, Keep it up! Your doing the damn thing!! Peace!

Killah-J responds:

Yea thanks bra. I did have a hard time trying this because of slayer. But thanks for the tips and tha info on every thing iight mayn. Ill make shure that ill keep up with tha samples and synths. Thankz

Simple Yet Satisfying

3 Hours huh? I think some of the best stuff is made like that. It seems that the less complicated your approach, the easier it flows out of you. I could easily hear this on the top 40's though probably featuring R Kelly or Usher. Good job on the song. Cubase can be a pain to do midi in if your processors aren't up to par. You set up a couple of Vst's and your typical cpu just sputters and kicks. Keep up the good work.
